Ms. Gonzales has been involved in leadership and social justice education for over 19 years. Previously, Ms. Gonzales was employed at Oklahoma State University, The University of Arizona and Duke University. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from OSU in Sociology and her Master of Arts from the UA in Higher Education. At all three institutions, she created and facilitated diversity trainings for the professional and student staff within Residence Life and developed campus wide diversity programming. Sarah was a recipient of the AIMHO Diversity Award from the Association of InterMountain Housing Officers in 2002 for her efforts.
Sarah is an alumna of the Social Justice Training Institute, a recipient of Tucson’s Top 40 Under 40, recipient of UA Alumni’s Distinguished Citizen Award and recipient of the Hispanic Professional Action Committee’s Lucero “Rising Star” Award. Sarah is a published poet, a community organizer and is Codirector of local youth centered arts organization, Spoken Futures.
